As you may have guessed by now, her devotion & intellect made her successful. But soon she decided that instead of juggling this hectic schedule, she would rather commit to 1 job whole-heartedly. So she transformed her study into a nursery. For the next 25 years, she completely dedicated her life to what she calls her ‘real source of happiness’. I always wondered why she CHOSE to go from changing the world by signing top deals to changing our nappies. She would tell me, “nothing is more important to me than my babies. You will understand this 1 day when you become a mother. First I am a mother, and then I am a lawyer. You 3 are my biggest success.” We idealise her determination and focus, which motivates us. Every time we are on the verge of a breakdown, we imagine our mother’s smile and loud shriek of happiness celebrating all our achievements. When I tested positive for Swine flu, the same well-educated woman ignored all her medical knowledge as she sat beside me, caring for me even when I passed on the infection to her! That’s who my mother is – our pillar of support and strength. Through successes, failures, giggles and tears, she is the constant source of happiness and encouragement in our lives. I speak for all 3 of us when I say that everything we are today is because of our mother’s sacrifices and unconditional love.
She always tells us, “In a world where you can be anything you want, just be the best at what you do.” So, I guess 6-year-old me was wrong to draw a questionable stick figure titled “my mom” on future-me-day. After all, I couldn’t possibly be the best mom after her. She taught us that success and happiness doesn’t always come from money, but from one’s true love & passion. Today, once again, our warrior has emerged stronger than before, ready to take on her world of law.
My mom is the epitome of selflessness and independence, of compassion and passion, driven with ambition, but most importantly a role model- a real inspiration to everyone who has the blessing to know her. To the woman who shies away from her own accomplishments, just to burst with pride and joy merely when we said our first words 'Mumma'- we love you❤️
