FARRAH PATEL

Over the 17 years I’ve known her, she’s been the most perfect friend I could have asked for. We have been in the same school since we were 3, and even have the same subjects, classes and interests. She is strong, fierce, and unapologetic in the best way possible. I have seen her strength come through when she flips people on the judo mat, as well as when she argues about women empowerment. But, the part I admire most about her is her hard work and her love for animals. On a typical day, you’ll find her in the park feeding one of her ten thousand stray doggies. Her love for them is unparalled and this comes through as she fights against animal and breeder’s cruelty, be it through long ranting voice messages or volunteer work at NGOs. Farrah is someone who will always have your back no matter what – she’s ever ready to fight for the people and things she believes in and loves. Her sarcastic comments, willingness to take up any challenge presented to her, and her exceptionally good grades inspire me to work hard and be a better human.

She’s the girl who never says no when I ask for help, the girl who will support me in everything I do, the girl who is always smiling and spreading joy, the girl who will show you funny memes and cute dog videos when you feel low, but most importantly the girl who you know will always be there for you. I am grateful to have a friend like her, as a sportsperson and as a woman. The world could always do with more Farrahs ;)
